Venergi - Process Engineer (m/w/d/) - Energy Transition

Ramboll is providing recruitment services to Venergi – an exciting joint venture between two market leaders within the sustainable energy and power generation.

Do you have proven experience within the process engineering industry and a talent for chemical and energy process optimisation? Are you keen on using your technical insight to optimize processes for projects that will help create a carbon-free society? Do you want to be at the forefront of the decarbonisation of the world’s most liveable city?

If so, we invite you to join us at Venergi as our new Process Engineer!

VENERGI – Powered by Wien Energie and Ramboll

Venergi is a joint venture powered by Wien Energie and Ramboll, driving and empowering Vienna's green energy transition through integrated, sustainable solutions. We play a key role in making Vienna the most resilient and liveable city and society of the future by providing planning and engineering services in circular economy, renewable energy, and decarbonisation.

Shape the world’s most liveable city

Live and work in Vienna, one of the world’s most vibrant cities. The city is home to around 2 million people. Despite its size, Vienna retains the feel of a large town, with numerous parks, woodlands, and outlying hills, perfect for families.

As Process Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team executing projects crucial to Vienna's decarbonization by 2040, such as:

  • Modernisation of existing energy generation facilities (e.g., upgrading waste incineration plants)
  • Construction of new alternative energy generation plants (e.g., large heat pumps, geothermal, wind farms)
  • Construction of hydrogen production facilities (e.g., electrolysers)
  • Construction of combined generation plants for heating, cooling energy, and electricity
  • Construction of seasonal heat storage facilities
  • Construction of waste handling facilities contributing to the circular economy (e.g., phosphorus recovery)

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Design and specify processes for new and existing industrial plants and facilities contributing to the energy transition and circular economy
  • Ensure adherence to pressure equipment directive, codes, standards, and environmental regulations
  • Cover all project phases (concept design, preliminary design, procurement, supervision of detailed design, site supervision, and commissioning)
  • Contribute to project deliverables (process flow diagrams, instrumentation diagrams, material choices, equipment design and layouts, supplier lists, cost estimates, interface definitions, layout proposals, feasibility studies, technical reports, technical specifications)
  • Coordinate with other trades (mainly mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering) to guarantee project quality
  • Interact with clients and suppliers to ensure successful project execution

Your New Team:

You and your team will benefit from a Scandinavian-inspired working culture in a new Austrian joint venture with high flexibility and an informal, dynamic working environment.

About You:

For this role, the following qualifications and experience are beneficial:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (process, chemical, mechanical engineering, energy, or industrial energy systems)
  • Practical experience as a process engineer in energy conversion, generation, and distribution infrastructure, chemical plants, refineries, or industrial facilities
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, chemical processes, storage and handling of chemical products in gas and liquid form, fluid mechanics, pressure equipment directive
  • Experience in concept development, specifications of mechanical services and systems, site supervision, and commissioning
  • Experience designing components and systems for generating, storing, and distributing heat, cooling energy, steam, hydrogen, gases, or other carriers
  • Deep passion for driving positive environmental impact through innovative and sustainable energy solutions
  • Effective teamwork skills within interdisciplinary project teams
  • Excellent English skills; German is a bonus
