We are now seeking an experienced and highly motivated Food Production Manager to join our team and oversee production activities at our food manufacturing facility.
About the Role:
The Food Production Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of our food production processes. This position requires strong leadership and organisational skills, with a focus on maintaining the highest food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive production plans and schedules to meet customer demands, optimise resources, and reduce downtime.
· Lead the daily operations of the production facility, ensuring consistent, timely, and efficient output of high-quality food products.
· Supervise and mentor production team members, including recruitment, induction, ongoing training, and performance management to build a high-performing team.
· Monitor and enforce strict compliance with food safety standards, including HACCP, local health regulations, and company-specific protocols.
· Conduct routine inspections, audits, and quality assurance checks to maintain product integrity and regulatory compliance.
· Collaborate closely with procurement, logistics, and quality control teams to streamline supply chain processes and minimise production delays.
· Establish and maintain effective inventory control systems to manage raw materials, packaging, and finished goods while reducing wastage.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analysing production data, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing corrective action plans.
· Ensure the safe operation of equipment and enforce workplace health and safety standards to foster a culture of safety throughout the facility.
· Develop and manage operational budgets for production activities, controlling costs while maximising productivity.
· Coordinate new product introductions and scale-up processes in collaboration with culinary teams.
· Prepare and maintain detailed production reports and documentation, ensuring accurate records are available for regulatory audits and internal reviews.
· Serve as the main point of contact for regulatory authorities during inspections and certifications.
· Lead emergency response and business continuity planning for the production facility.
Requirements:
· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing or production management, ideally within a high-volume environment.
· Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards used in daily food production.
· Experience in supervising a team and helping staff improve their skills and performance.
· Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Experience with lean manufacturing principles and process optimisation is highly regarded.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Relevant tertiary qualifications in management, or a related discipline preferred.
