As R&D Service Engineer, you will work independently on tasks that contribute directly to the success of the team. Working autonomously, you will build and expand a strong set of technical skills while ensuring reliable operation of our equipment. Your support will continuously strengthen and enable cutting‑edge research at SAL.
Independently execute maintenance and service assignments on high‑end wet etch tools and related semiconductor processing equipment
Develop and implement methodologies for preventive and corrective maintenance in a research cleanroom environment
Collaborate closely with equipment suppliers and process engineers to optimize tool performance and enable state‑of‑the‑art process development
Create and update technical documentation, maintenance plans, and operating procedures
Coordinate service activities with external vendors as well as internal stakeholders
Support group administration and contribute to the smooth operation of the team
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance or Equipment Service Engineer in semiconductor cleanrooms, ideally within an industrial or advanced research environment
Hands‑on expertise in wet etch tools and processes is highly desirable
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross‑functional teams
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel); experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage
Comfortable working in a multicultural and collaborative research environment
This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non‑university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group D. We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications. For this position, your minimum monthly salary starts with EUR 3.252, paid 14 times a year.
