About the role
We’re looking for a Café Manager to lead our Melbourne café and bring the Allpress brand experience to life every day.
This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for building a high‑performing team, delivering consistently exceptional customer service, and ensuring all café operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You’ll shape a warm, welcoming environment, uphold our “Perfect Cup” standards, drive operational and financial performance, and make sure every touch point reflects our brand values.
Working closely with the National Hospitality Manager, you’ll manage people, product, service and systems to create a café that truly represents who we are.
This is a full‑time position based in Melbourne.
What you’ll do
Lead and develop the team
- Recruit, induct and train new team members
- Run effective performance reviews and ongoing coaching
- Build strong team culture, communication and cohesion
- Ensure all staff are skilled, confident and knowledgeable across coffee, food and café operations
Deliver an exceptional customer experience
- Set and maintain high standards of professional, friendly and efficient service
- Ensure the team consistently follows Allpress coffee preparation standards
- Support staff to become “approachable experts” who build great customer relationships
- Create a welcoming environment where the café is always customer‑ready
Champion the Allpress brand
- Maintain the “working billboard” environment through quality, presentation and service
- Ensure every touch point reflects our brand values
- Collaborate on café menus that enhance our espresso offering
- Build strong supplier relationships to support quality and consistency
- Oversee rosters, labour planning and daily operational workflows
- Maintain accurate financial and sales reporting
- Manage costs in line with business expectations
- Oversee stock ordering, rotation and monthly stocktakes
- Ensure equipment is well‑maintained and used safely
- Delegate tasks effectively to support team development and efficiency
Ensure safety, compliance & hygiene
- Maintain a clean, organised and food‑safe environment
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and food hygiene standards
- Support a positive, safe, team‑focused workplace
About you
You’re a natural leader who loves people, coffee and creating memorable customer experiences. You’re hands‑on, organised and proactive — someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and knows how to bring a team together to deliver exceptional service.
You’ll bring:
- Experience leading a café or hospitality team
- Strong barista skills and passion for specialty coffee
- A warm, customer‑focused approach with excellent communication
- Confidence in managing operations, rosters, stock and financial performance
- High attention to detail and pride in maintaining a polished café environment
- A collaborative and solutions‑focused mindset
