Your Future Responsibilities
Development of metallic thin films and multilayers by magnetron sputtering
Investigation of process-structure-property relationships of metallic thin films
Tuning process parameters to achieve targeted properties of metallic thin films (e.g., electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity) under application-relevant conditions
Working in an advanced ISO5 cleanroom facility, collaborating with process engineers and external suppliers to define requirements, conditions, and parameters related to magnetron sputtering equipment
Performing data analysis and interpretation using analytical calculations, modeling, and standard statistical methods
Defining Standard Operating Procedures, documenting Best Known Methods, and preparing IP disclosure reports related to metallic thin film deposition
Tracking project progress, including reports, deliverables, and milestones
Contributing to project management and reporting, with regular updates to supervisors and the Research Unit head
Disseminating project results through publications and conferences
Collaborating within the Microsystems division on projects involving materials and thin-film technology for applications like MEMS, ion traps, and superconductors
Generating innovative ideas to enhance device performance
Contributing constructively to team efforts and maintaining a positive team environment
Your Profile
PhD in Materials Science, Condensed-matter Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
Strong background in electronic transport properties, low-temperature physics, and metallic thin film physics
Hands-on experience with metallic thin film fabrication techniques, especially sputtering, and characterization methods (XRD, AFM, SKPM, TLM, 4-PP, Hall effect measurement, etc.)
Experience in process optimization, statistical analysis, and modeling
Practical experience with metal sputtering equipment
Understanding of structure-property relationships in metallic thin films
Proficiency in English communication; German is a plus
Experience in optimizing metallic thin films for electronics, photonics, MEMS, and quantum applications; cleanroom experience is advantageous
Creative, application-oriented, and problem-solving mindset
