€ 3.714,80 (payable 14 times per year)

Responsibilities

• Carry out work on the PhD project "Employing System Dynamics to understand the complexity and wider impacts of the adoption of transformative policies on activity travel behaviours, social and personal costs and gains" as part of the TRANSFORM Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral training network.
  The objective of this project is to develop a decision support system capable of measuring and evaluating the wider socio-economic impacts. For more information see TRANSFORM Research and BOKU.
• Complete two secondments of 3 months each at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main (GUF), Institute for Human Geography and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Brussels Centre for Urban Studies.
• Participate in the TRANSFORM training and networking activities.
• Publish research findings in international journals and participate in (inter)national conferences.
• Participate in dissemination and outreach activities of TRANSFORM.
• Contribute to organizational and administrative tasks.

• Diploma degree in engineering, urban or spatial planning, geography, economics or equivalent studies with specialization in transport planning or other equivalent university degree.
• Language skills:
  Proficiency in written and spoken English (proof required), German is a strong plus to engage with stakeholders.
• Experience with systems thinking techniques, preferably System Dynamics.
• Aptitude for inter- and transdisciplinary teamwork, to engage with stakeholders, and to present research findings effectively.
• Strong interest to work in an inter- and transdisciplinary research environment within a Europe-wide network.
• Willingness to participate in summer schools and other activities as part of the Doctoral Network, willingness to participate in 2 secondments.
• Ability to plan, design and carry out scientific work and to write and publish high-quality scientific papers.
• Commitment to write a doctoral dissertation (PhD by publication) within the specified time.
• The doctoral candidate must comply with the following criteria:
• Not have resided or carried out their main activity (e.g. studies) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the past 36 months before recruitment.
• Not be in possession of a doctoral degree.
• Meet the admission requirements for the doctoral programme leading to the award of a doctoral degree (see Admission Requirements).
• Work exclusively for the PhD research project.

• Experience in qualitative research, including stakeholder interviews and qualitative data analysis methods and software (e.g. MAXQDA, Atlas.ti., NVivo) is a very strong merit.
• Experience with multi-criteria decision-making frameworks (e.g. MAUT, MCDA, AHP) is a strong merit.
