Job Description
Frijns Middle East is recruiting for a Workshop Supervisor to join our growing team in Mesaieed, Qatar. This is a full-time office-based role with occasional site visits.
The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all workshop activities including planning, organizing and controlling production schedules. The successful candidate also ensures that fabrication processes are carried out in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all workshop activities and ensure the safety regulations are adhered to
- Plan and organize production schedules and delegate tasks to the workshop team
- Assess project and resource requirements and arrange for procurement of materials
- Ensure that the quality of work or goods is maintained and meets the standards
- Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed
- Report the repair and routine maintenance requirements of production equipment to maintenance manager
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in the workshop
- Supervise and evaluate performance of production personnel
- Train new employees on equipment operations and workshop safety guidelines
- Ensure that all completed work meets the quality standards and customer requirements
- Collaborate with other department managers to identify and manage workshop risks
- Manage and oversee all fabrication processes in the workshop.
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures in the workshop.
- Coordinate with production planners to develop production schedules and maintain an inventory of raw materials and finished products.
- Plan and manage the workflow and resources to meet required utilisation and production targets.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate performance of workshop staff.
- Ensure equipment maintenance and repair schedules are followed.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Communicate with clients, vendors, and other departments to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
- Participate in Quality and technical assurance activities, peer reviews and audits
- Support junior staff performance and competency reviews
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 15+ years relevant experience including at least five (5) years in similar position
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, machinery, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office
- Able to plan and organize projects from inception to completion.
- Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of industrial and infrastructure steel construction is essential.
- Strong safety champion who will lead the project in achieving zero incidents and injuries.
- Self‑motivated/Self‑directed.
- Able to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal English and Vietnamese communication skills is mandatory. Must be able to translate the documents in Vietnamese and be able to interface with local manpower agencies in Vietnam
