Job description

Supervises a team of technicians (various trades) and machinists in a gas plant workshop & in the outside field (plants). Familiar with all machine tools in a workshop, repair of rotating machinery components, heat exchangers repairs and re-tubing, valves reconditioning & refurbishment. Knowledgeable & skilled in balancing, welding, painting, tinsmith and civil crafts.

MAIN TASKS

  1. Provide guidance and instructions on work orders details and follow up executions of instructions inside & the workshop and in the field (plants).
  2. Knowledgeable of all machinery and precision tools used in a gas plant workshop and provide guidance for repair and calibration of this machinery.
  3. Directs and supervises repairs of various rotating machinery like centrifugal pumps, high speed gearboxes, single and multistage steam turbines, positive displacement dosing pumps, and injection skids, as well as stationary equipment like various types of valves, safety relief valves and heat exchangers.
  4. Supervises repair of mobile equipment like cranes, forklifts, diesel welding machines, mobile air compressors and other workshop equipment.
  5. Supervises all jobs related to cutting, welding, machining, hydro testing and heat exchanger repairs in the field (plants) outside the workshop when required.
  6. Understanding engineering blueprints, piping isometrics and drawings for assembly and machining purposes.
  7. Initiates procurement of cutting tools, spare parts and consumables needed by all workshop crafts.
  8. Enters manpower and history data in CMMS for the jobs he supervises whether inside or outside workshop (Field).
  9. Checks conformity of tools and spare parts related workshop materials received by Warehouse.
  10. Implements Inspection procedures, painting procedures, QHSE and first procedures, ISO 9000 / 14000 procedures, QA&QC procedures, precision tools and calibration procedures, balancing & welding procedures.
  11. Ensures safe working practices are always practiced by personnel under his supervision.
  12. Provides opportunities for training and development for technicians under his supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

A. Knowledge Education :

  • Completion of secondary education (12 years) plus 2 years full time training in the mechanical discipline leading to possession of a recognized diploma.

B. Experience :

  • Has working knowledge and maintenance experience (minimum 10 years) in the installation, maintenance and repairs of mechanical equipment in the maintenance department of a gas plant, refinery or petrochemical plant.
  • Has a minimum of 15 to 20 years work experience in a workshop environment with hands-on experience on all types of machinery.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in a gas plant, refinery or petrochemical machine shop.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a supervisory position.

C. Skills :

  • Computer Literate and use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Ability to work under pressure day or night.
