Job summary

Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions is seeking a Painter to perform surface preparation, cleaning, and coating in a shipyard setting. You will handle degreasing, washing, and touch-up painting using brushes or rollers, with access via cherry picker or man lift.

Adherence to SOPs and safety protocols is essential. The role requires trade apprenticeship or secondary schooling, and prior experience in shipyards or offshore projects is preferred.

Qualifications

• Trade apprenticeship or secondary school as education requirement.
• Experience in shipyard or offshore projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform surface cleaning, preparation, scrapping, and degreasing per SOP.
• Apply coatings and touch up painting using roller or brush.
• Operate cherry picker and man lift for access to surfaces.
• Ensure proper use of painting tools and machinery and report malfunctions.
• Maintain tidy work area and comply with safety policies.

Job description

Carry out the Surface preparation work such as - cleaning preparation, scrapping, fresh water washing, degreasing, power tooling, & surface coating (painting) etc. as per the work instructions / directive of supervisor in order to meet clients' and yard's requirements for timely delivery of projects.

Key Accountabilities

• l . Perform job-related activities such as surface cleaning & preparation, scrapping, fresh water washing, degreasing, power tooling, touch up painting of prepared surface using roller or brush & surface coating (painting) in line with defined standard operating procedures and quality standards.

• Apply the corrosion protection process to hull, decks, superstructure, chain lockers, tank coatings, cargo holds, structural steel works, pipelines & miscellaneous items.
• Ensure appropriate use of tools and machinery, preventing excessive wear and tear and breakdowns.
• Prevent wastage of materials (painting materials), consumables and report any malfunction of tools and machinery to immediate supervisor. Maintain housekeeping of work place to required standards.
• Takes initiative to pursue self-development through on-job-training/education.
• Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.
• Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
• Perform other related duties or assignments as directed by group leader/supervisor.
