Job description

The Chief Engineer Officer is the ship's technical manager and head of the maintenance team.

Accountabilities

1. Together with the Chief Officer, ensure the safe working practices of all personnel.
2. Oversee the efficient operation of all machinery and equipment installed on board for propulsion and hotel services.
3. Ensure the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment for cargo handling and storage.
4. Implement correct procedures, monitor and use equipment to ensure cargo is carried as defined by the Charterer's instructions.
5. Conduct routine checking, testing, maintenance, and repair of machinery and fittings throughout the ship, including maintenance activities of the ETO / EEO / Electrician.
6. Maintain safety equipment.
7. Manage spare gear and central stores inventories and associated documentation.
8. Update and control the Engine Information Book and associated records.
9. Oversee bunker custody and related anti-pollution measures.
10. Manage the use of fresh, domestic, and distilled water.
11. Train Engineer and Marine Cadets and monitor their progress.
12. Delegate additional duties to the JD's of other engineer officers onboard as necessary.

Carry out any lawful command and delegated duty as issued by the Master.

Reporting & Operating obligations as per FMM 1.3.9 'as amended'.
