A leading oil and gas company seeks a Shift Coordinator to oversee onshore asset operations in Doha, ensuring efficiency and safety. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Engineering, a minimum of 10 years in oil & gas, and strong leadership skills. This is an onshore role with various responsibilities, including compliance and emergency management.
Shift Coordinator – Operations
Location: Onshore (Ras Laffan / Doha HQ)
Contract Type: Call-Off Order via new MFA
Duration: 2 years initial contract, with possibility of extension
Work Schedule: 8–10 hours per day, Sunday to Thursday; 12 weeks ON / 2 weeks OFF (Single Status) or 30 days annual leave (Couple Status)
Lead the shift to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations of onshore assets by directing shift activities in line with established policies, procedures, and operational targets.
Reports to: Start-Up Manager – Operations
Direct reports: 1 (total headcount ~50)
Internal: Regular interaction with Asset Section Heads, Offshore Operations, SE&Q, Maintenance, and Engineering teams
External: Interfaces with partner operators and stakeholders on operational matters as needed
Lead management and troubleshooting of LNG Trains, Sulphur Recovery Units, Utilities, and Offsite facilities to ensure optimum production of LNG, condensate, and by-products.
Oversee safe ramp-down, shutdown, and decommissioning of plant units, including safe start-up post-maintenance.
Analyse plant performance to maximize efficiency, coordinate with Shift Supervisors, Process Engineers, and Maintenance teams on operational issues.
Coordinate maintenance backlog analysis and agree on plans with Asset Managers to ensure maximum availability.
Contribute to developing and reviewing operating procedures, ensuring competency assessments are completed across teams.
Maintain shift consistency, adjust patterns/resources to optimize efficiency, and minimize overtime.
Assess and manage operational risks, including project tie-ins and concurrent construction/operations activities.
Ensure procedural compliance and work continuity by coordinating resources, authorizing work, and updating stakeholders.
Act as Incident Commander during emergencies, making first-line intervention decisions until relieved by senior management.
Evaluate team performance, identify training gaps, and coordinate training and OJT activities with the training function.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 10 years diversified oil & gas operations experience, including at least 5 years as Shift Superintendent
Strong leadership and coaching abilities across diverse teams
Proven ability to anticipate operational needs and adapt to changes
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written & spoken English)
Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
High standards of professionalism and integrity in operations management
Proficiency with MS Office applications
