Responsibilities
- Lead in equipment installation, maintenance and repairs
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions
Duties and Responsibilities
- Comply with Primepower servicing schedules and procedures
- Ensure all equipment is prepared for hire in compliance with Primepower ‘Green Card’ procedure
- Ensure all work performed reports are approved by client (on site) and are legibly produced
- Ensure immediate response and minimal disruption to client’s requirements
- Ensure good housekeeping of work area and service vehicle
- Maintain a minimum spares level in service vehicle as per procedures
- Effective troubleshooting to minimise downtime and unnecessary repair costs
- Customer satisfaction externally & internally
- Compliance to QHSE & ISO Standards and Procedures
- Compliance with 24 hour call – out policy

- Able to work the hours required to enhance the service division operations
- Ideally have a recognized qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
- Be computer Literate
- Good command of English language, spoken and written
- Good Communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Able to work on own initiative and under pressure
- Able to work to strict timeframes and achieve results
- Must be able to work to written procedures and comply with company policies
- Specialized Training/ Knowledge Required
- Able to work long hours in demanding conditions under pressure

- Good Communication skills must be able to complete reports legibly
- Effective troubleshooting capability
- Ability to read electrical drawings
- Possession of driving license essential
- Capable of basic administration and working to written procedure
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience relevant role or related field
- Dealer experience (Cummins and Caterpillar)
- Previous experience in the rental industry
- Prior experience working with diesel generator power plants
Qualifications and Experience Details
- College Degree in in a Mechanical or Electrical field or Industrial Training Institute qualifications
- Grade 10 or 12 clarification
- Previous Experience with Cummins/Iveco/Scania Diesel Generator engines
- Must hold an official Mechanical and Electrical trade qualification from a recognized organization
- Proficiency with generator controllers including PCC 2100, PCC 3100, PCC 3200, PCC 3300 and DSE 8000 series, with training certificates from courses attended in programming
- Demonstrated track record in rebuilding Cummins engines, including KTA50, KTA38, KSQ23, QSX15, QSG12, NTA855, QSL9, 6BTA, and 4BTA
- Capability to assess power demand according to production needs
- Accredited high voltage qualification from a recognized organization
- Completion of high voltage switching courses
- Familiarity with the generator load testing process
