The Senior Contracts and Commercial Director leads contract negotiations and management, develops and implements commercial strategies, and oversees risk management and performance monitoring. They manage budgets, resolve disputes, ensure compliance, and conduct market analysis. Additionally, they lead and mentor a team to drive business growth and efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the negotiation, drafting, and management of contracts to ensure favorable terms and compliance with legal requirements.
- Create and implement commercial strategies that align with organizational goals and drive business growth.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks associated with contracts and projects.
- Oversee the performance of contracts, ensuring all parties meet their contractual obligations and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Manage budgets related to contracts and commercial activities, ensuring cost efficiency and financial performance.
- Handle contract disputes and claims, working to resolve issues amicably and minimize financial and operational impacts.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any commercial concerns.
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Perform market analysis to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential business opportunities.

Job Knowledge & Skills
- Practical use of various Forms of Contract Conditions such as FIDIC or other related/bespoke documents.
- Knowledge of Contract and Tender requirements, guidelines, and procedures. Knowledge of latest Qatar Specifications (QCS).
- Experience managing large commercial negotiations for complex, high-profile projects. Significant technical expertise pertaining to contracts, contract formulation, and negotiations.
- Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes. Expert knowledge of contracting concepts, uniform commercial codes, and applicable local laws and regulations.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, are required for success in this role.
Job Experience
Minimum 15 years of working experience, including 10 years in relevant management/leadership positions. Experience in GCC is a plus.
Education
Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Administration, or related fields, including Contract Management.
