Job description

Senior Commissioning Engineer Doha, Qatar

Overview:

We are looking to hire a Senior Commissioning Engineer for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 12-14 years’ experience in relevant construction and installation activities within the oil & gas industry. Experience in implementing construction industry best practices, systems, processes, and standards is essential.

Fluency in English is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Represent QP as the Commissioning Team Leader for all assigned offshore projects.
  2. Review and comment on EPIC Contractor SOW pre-commissioning, commissioning, and completion activities.
  3. Lead project pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up engineering support services provided by outsourced contractors, ensuring activities comply with QP regulations, project procedures, and industry best practices.
  4. Report to the Head of Commissioning on all commissioning-related matters to ensure successful project completion.
  5. Improve QP commissioning procedures and contribute to standardizing commissioning deliverables.
  6. Develop and obtain approval for the Commissioning Strategy and Plan in consultation with the End User, ensuring alignment with contract requirements and coordination with the Head of Commissioning and EPIC Contractor.
  7. Lead the development and approval of commissioning procedures for all systems and facilities.
  8. Organize and ensure the availability of the commissioning team and necessary manpower support from End User and Contractor.
  9. Plan commissioning activities and ensure their execution according to the approved plan and project schedule.
  10. Detail activities for systems and subsystems to facilitate commissioning and start-up.
  11. Develop and secure approval for commissioning handover checklists and certificates, coordinating with contractors/vendors to resolve system/equipment issues.
  12. Coordinate punch listing activities with the project Construction Team, End User, and Contractor from start to finish of the commissioning process, including clearance and close-out.
  13. Be prepared for long working hours, including outdoor field work.
  14. Operate effectively within a multi-disciplinary, multicultural environment, requiring strong coordination and expediting skills, interpersonal relationships, and effective communication within QP and Contractor teams.
  15. Coordinate vendor schedules, site visits, and on-job training for critical equipment commissioning.
  16. Participate in safety reviews and studies.
  17. Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as required.
  18. Review multidiscipline engineering deliverables related to commissioning approaches.
  19. Support project team during project closeout.

Requirements:

  1. BSc or BE in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university, with extensive commissioning experience in Oil & Gas projects.
  2. Strong skills in construction management, effective communication, and conflict resolution.
  3. Good communication skills.
  4. Experience with commissioning software such as ICAPS or similar tools.
  5. A minimum of 12-14 years’ relevant experience in construction and installation activities in oil & gas projects.
  6. Experience in offshore project construction and installation activities is highly preferred.
  7. Technical expertise in commissioning F&G Systems, DCS, ICS, Power Management Systems, Instrument Air, Wellhead Control Systems, etc., in offshore environments.
