Job summary

QatarEnergy LNG, based in Qatar, is seeking a Senior Assets & Materials Accountant to manage asset and material accounting, including SAP Asset and Materials Management. You will oversee month-, quarter-, and year-end activities, prepare financial reports, and guide complex regulatory changes in line with IFRS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Commercial discipline.
• Or a bachelor’s degree in any discipline plus an internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA, CFA, CIMA, CMA, CPA).
• 5 years’ experience in a finance function in the Oil & Gas industry.

Responsibilities

• Ensure month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities follow guidelines; lead non-routine/ ad hoc tasks with recommendations.
• Review statutory and management reports; advise on complex transactions and perform reconciliations.
• Develop controls and reporting processes; prepare internal/external reports and position papers; improve SAP setup.
• Interface with internal/external clients for complex financial data and advise on capital cost recovery under agreements such as ARFSA, including financial modelling.
• Monitor day-to-day performance and suggest enhancements; contribute to financial systems and procedures development.
• Co-ordinate with Project Accounting to close out projects timely; provide finance input per terms and processes in Asset Accounting; oversee asset verification.

• Conduct and review Asset & Material and Spare Parts Inventory Accounting including related financial, accounting, management accounting, tax, and related issues with a broad overview of all financial matters relating to the section including SAP Asset and Materials Management modules. Conduct and oversee the review and implementation of changes related to Asset & Material regulations.

Key Job Accountabilities - I

• Ensure that month-end, quarter-end, and year-end divisional activities are delivered following established guidelines and procedures, including taking the lead in addressing complex non-routine/adhoc activity providing recommendations and ensuring resolution.
• Review the preparation of statutory and management monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, advise on complex transactions, and perform complex reconciliations.
• Develop processes and procedures to ensure that changes in the control and reporting environment are addressed in line with corporate requirements, including the preparation of internal and external reports and position papers presenting a range of options and recommendations. Review and recommend improvements in the current SAP setup ensuring a robust system landscape.
• Interface with internal and external clients to obtain complex and sensitive financial information in to provide advice and guidance on capital cost recovery for commercial agreements such as the ARFSA (including complex construction of financial models).
• Monitor day-to-day performance to identify and provide recommendations for possible enhancement or improvements and provide input for the development of financial systems and procedures.

• Co-ordinate activities with Project Accounting to ensure that projects close out activities are completed in a timely manner.
• Provides Finance input in relation to projects within set terms of reference and defined processes. Implements policies and process changes in relation to Asset Accounting.
• Co-ordinates the Asset verification process with Asset Managers to ensure that asset verification is carried out in line with corporate requirements.
• Responsible for the asset accounting of all capital lease arrangements such as rigs, residential properties and other assets under IFRS.
• Trains and develops staff to perform their role within the team, setting objectives and providing feedback.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Accounting, Finance, Economic or Commercial discipline; or
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and an internationally recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA, CFA, CIMA, CMA, CPA).

Knowledge and/or Experience - I

• 5 years’ experience in a finance function in the Oil & Gas Industry.
• Solid knowledge of SAP/accounting systems.
