Job summary

Doha British School seeks an experienced educator to lead SEN policy development and coordinate SEN provision across our Ain Khaled Campus. The role focuses on day-to-day SEN operations, guidance for staff, and collaboration with families and external agencies.

Qualifications

  • Recognised educational degree in teaching; UK/IB context preferred.
  • PGCE or QTS with Early Career Teaching Certificate (subject-relevant degree).
  • Exceptional subject knowledge of the National Curriculum of England.
  • Experience teaching IGCSE, AS/A Level and IB.
  • National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent (preferred).
  • Ability to lead SEN policy development and coordinate provision.
  • Provide professional guidance to staff, parents, and agencies.
  • Set high expectations and drive progression for SEN students.

Curriculum Overview

Doha British School follows the National Curriculum of England, adapted to reflect Qatar’s culture, heritage, and values. The school provides a continuous learning journey from Early Years through to Sixth Form, combining academic excellence with strong pastoral care and a focus on personal growth.

Across all stages, the DBS curriculum is designed to be relevant, rich, and challenging, blending academic rigour with leadership, creativity, and global citizenship.

Successful applicants must have:
  • A recognised educational degree, such as a Bachelor's in Education or an equivalent qualification.
  • A certified teaching qualification such as a PGCE or QTS with an Early Career Teaching Certificate (the PGCE must be supported by a subject-relevant bachelor’s degree).
  • Exceptional subject knowledge, with extensive experience teaching the National Curriculum of England.
  • Experience teaching IGCSE, AS/A Level and International Baccalaureate (IB).
  • Preferably a National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent
  • Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school
  • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and coordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability.
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents, and other agencies.
  • Establish high expectations of team members and students and setting challenging targets for each of them to achieve;
  • Ensure that systems and procedures are in place to enable the effective and consistent progression of all students within the cohort;
  • Promote approaches to learning and teaching that engage and motivate students and demand their active participation;
  • Strengthen learning and teaching through a programme of professional development and practical support.
  • A strong commitment to contributing to the wider school community through extracurricular activities.

This position is available for immediate commencement, with a preferred start as soon as possible.
