Job summary

IRM Energy & Technology in Qatar seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to oversee rotating equipment maintenance across onshore facilities. You will support construction, commissioning, and start-up activities, ensuring safe, reliable operation and compliance with technical standards.

The role requires 4+ years in O&G/petrochemical rotating equipment, knowledge of turbines, compressors and SAP, and fluency in English. A challenging environment with growth opportunities awaits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years’ O&G/petrochemical experience in rotating equipment maintenance and commissioning.
• Knowledge of turbines, compressors, pumps, and auxiliaries.
• Knowledge of engineering standards and specifications.
• SAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for rotating equipment during construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and system completion.
• Troubleshoot rotating equipment issues during start-up and operations to maintain plant availability.
• Plan and support planned and unplanned major rotating equipment maintenance activities.
• Verify maintenance and refurbishment quality against technical standards and equipment requirements.
• Coordinate gas turbine and compressor maintenance with Asset Maintenance, OEMs, and stakeholders.
• Review critical spares and obsolescence requirements and recommend procurement or upgrade actions.
• Support equipment modifications, upgrades, bad-actor analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Participate in RCFA, risk assessments, and HAZOP to identify risks and corrective actions.
• Provide technical training and coaching to mechanical technicians and Qatari National Developees.
• Coordinate repair and refurbishment of critical rotating equipment components to restore availability.
