Job summary

GHD is seeking a Roads Design Engineer to support a large-scale Buildings & Infrastructure project in Qatar. You will lead road geometry design, signing, marking, and related workflow across urban and inter-urban networks.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, 10 years in road design with Qatar/Middle East experience, and proficiency in Civil 3D and BIM modelling. MMUP registration or progress to it within 6 months is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in road design, with 5+ years in Qatar/Middle East.
• Knowledge of local authority procedures, standards and regulations in Qatar.
• MMUP Registration mandatory or to be obtained within 6 months of joining.
• Familiarity with QHDM and other local authority approval procedures for road design.
• Experience coordinating with authorities for NOC/approval processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design stages of road geometry, signing and marking for major urban and inter-urban roads.
• Assign work to junior engineers and supervise design efforts.
• Coordinate with local authorities for road geometry approvals and NOCs.
• Submit and follow up approvals with authorities in coordination with the local authority engineer.
• Collaborate with design team, sub-consultants and clients to ensure satisfaction.
• Work with TIS consultant to obtain approvals from concerned authorities.

About The Role

We are seeking a Roads Design Engineer to support the delivery of a large-scale Buildings & Infrastructure project in Qatar.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Preparation of all design stages of road geometry, signing and marking, ancillary works of major urban and inter-urban road projects, incorporating tunnels, sophisticated grade separation interchanges, and service roads, investigation of alternatives, route selection and preparation of the main items of bill quantities.
• Assigning work to junior engineers, supervising work, acquiring Road Design approvals.
• Coordination with local authorities for Road geometry, corridor approvals and NOCs through Common NOC System and respective authorities.
• Responsible for the submission, discussion and follow up with local authorities for approvals and permits in coordination with the local authority Engineer.
• Work coactively with the design team, collaborate closely with sub-consultants and liaising with clients ensuring their satisfaction.
• Responsible for acquiring Road Design approvals, work closely with TIS consultant in obtaining approval from the concerned authorities.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in similar field with proven track records in road design including at least 5 years’ current Qatar/Middle East experience
• Knowledge with the local authority procedure, standards and regulations in Qatar is essential.
• Expertise in Civil 3D and BIM Modelling.
• MMUP Registration is mandatory, or ability to obtain within 6 months of joining.
• Conversant with the QHDM and other local authority approval procedure related to road design.
• Road Safety Audit Certificates would be an added advantage.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Inter Discipline coordination.
• Familiar with the local authority procedure, standards and regulations in Qatar
• Experienced in authority NOC/approval/permit procedure.
• Good team player.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
