Overview

mselect is looking to hire a QC Inspector (Rotating & Static) for an oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 10-15 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake familiarization with Project Specifications and function specific inspection documentation to ensure understanding of contract requirements.
  • Implement quality inspection procedures on construction activities, suppliers, sub- contractor’s work to ensure compliance to project specification and other technical requirements.
  • Closely follow the 90Days look ahead Schedule, daily work & RFI schedules, liaise with functional focal point and Contractor personnel to be aware of the planned and completed equipment assembly / erection / testing activities and undertake Quality surveillance / witnessing according to the approved ITPs.
  • Verify the availability of latest and approved documents / drawings / Qualification ID Cards / Calibration Certificates, at the place where Welding / NDT / Painting
  • Witness Qualification and Testing of various types of refractory and applicators, sign off the RFIs and Qualification records.
  • Monitor the equipment receipt, Material receiving inspection, documents review and Storage / Preservation as per the manufacturer recommendations / approved procedures.
  • Surveillance of On-site and Off-site fabrication / assembly, erection, and testing activities, to identify potential or actual non-conformances and to assist contractor in taking necessary Correction, corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide feedback to functional supervisor on recurring quality observations or lapses, and follow-up on Corrections and Corrective Actions to close-out the observations and NCRs.
  • Ensure that equipment used for Inspection, measuring and testing having valid calibration as per approved project procedures.
  • Assist functional supervisor in review and / or approval of Quality and Construction documentation, including Method Statements, JHAs, QCPs, inspection & test plans, and attend Quality Walkthroughs.
  • Monitor the functioning and performance of Contactor / Sub-Contractor / Third party inspectors and provide necessary support / guidance, where improvement needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the contractor, third parties and Construction team at your level.
  • Implement and enforce the elements of our client’s Quality Management System requirements applicable to your function.
  • Exposed to Construction Site and Prevailing Climatic Conditions at least 80% of time.
  • Ensure own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by our client’s business, whether the activity is under direct control or not
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or Equivalent).
  • Having Sr. Welding Inspector Certification (CSWIP 3.2 / AWS-SCWI), Painting Inspector Certification (BGAS Grade-2 / NACE Level-2) and NDT Leve-2 Certification in RT, MT, UT and PT (ASNT/ACCP). API 510 / 653 / 580 / 963 or relevant API Inspector Certifications will be an advantage.
  • Preferably having formal training in QA/QC functional aspects and QMS internal Auditor.
  • 10 years’ experience for graduate engineers and 15 years’ experience for diploma holders in similar position in Oil & Gas sector. Experience in GCC is desirable.
  • Sound working knowledge in Welding / NDT / Painting / Coating and associated Quality / Inspection / Testing requirements and acceptance criteria related to major oil & gas Process Plants construction.
  • Familiar with international Codes, Standards and practices relevant to the job function (ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, ISO, BS EN, IOGP, Shell DEP, MESC spec etc.)
  • Hands on experience in undertaking Inspection / testing activities related to Static Equipment (Columns & Vessels / HE / Coalescer/ Tanks / Boilers / Heaters / Flares Packages etc.,) and Rotating Equipment (Pumps, Compressors, AFCs, Mixers / Fans / Blowers etc.,) during Field Erection / installation, Testing, Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning.
  • Well versed with the Installation, inspection and testing of various types of internals in Columns / Vessels.
