Job summary

CME Wakra Water W.L.L. is seeking a Project Director to lead the integrated delivery of the Al Wakra and Al Wukair Sewage Treatment Plants and OCF-2 Works in Qatar. The role covers engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover across two sites.

The suitable candidate will have 20+ years in engineering/construction, 12+ years in major EPC delivery, and at least five years in a single-point leadership role, with strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and Primavera P6.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Technology/Engineering in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical/Process/Electrical/Environmental fields.
• Minimum 20 years of progressive engineering and construction experience.
• At least 12 years in major contractor-side EPC delivery.
• At least five years as Project Director or equivalent leadership role.
• Experience delivering major wastewater or water infrastructure EPC projects through commissioning and handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery across HSE, engineering, procurement, construction and handover.
• Oversee procurement, expediting and critical long-lead equipment
• Manage subcontractor and supplier performance and interfaces with authorities
• Control costs, cash flow and forecast-at-completion
• Ensure adherence to FIDIC contracts and claim avoidance
• Direct recruitment and leadership of a multicultural project team

WE ARE HIRING: PROJECT DIRECTOR – MAJOR WASTEWATER EPC PROGRAMME

CME Wakra Water W.L.L. is seeking an accomplished Project Director to assume executive responsibility for the integrated delivery of the Al Wakra and Al Wukair Sewage Treatment Plant and OCF-2 Works.

This is a critical leadership appointment for a complex, multidisciplinary EPC programme involving engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover across two project sites.

The successful candidate will lead project delivery across:

• HSE, environmental compliance and workforce welfare
• Engineering, design integration and technical assurance
• Procurement and expediting of critical long‑lead equipment
• Civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control works
• Primavera P6 programme management and schedule recovery
• Testing, commissioning, performance testing and handover
• Cost control, cash flow and forecast-at-completion
• Contract administration, variations, EOT and claims management
• Subcontractor, vendor and supply‑chain performance
• Employer, Engineer and Qatar authority interfaces
• Recruitment, mobilisation and leadership of a multicultural project team

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should demonstrate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical/Process, Electrical or Environmental Engineering
• Minimum 20 years of progressive engineering and construction experience
• At least 12 years in major contractor‑side EPC delivery
• At least five years as Project Director, Project Executive or equivalent single‑point project leader
• Successful delivery of at least one major wastewater, water infrastructure or comparable process‑plant EPC project through commissioning and handover
• Leadership experience on a complex EPC project or programme valued at USD 300 million or more
• Minimum five years of GCC experience, preferably including at least two years in Qatar
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC‑style EPC contracts, variations, EOT, claims, payment certification and dispute avoidance
• Executive‑level understanding of Primavera P6, critical‑path analysis, schedule recovery, resource planning, cost forecasting and risk management
• Fluent written and spoken English; Arabic would be a strong advantage
• Ability to work full‑time in Qatar and maintain a visible presence at both project sites

Desired Candidate Profile

• Chartered Engineer, CEng, P.Eng., PE or equivalent professional registration
• Current Qatar Ministry of Municipality engineering registration
• NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent HSE leadership qualification
• Formal training in FIDIC contracts, claims, negotiation or dispute avoidance
