Job description
Job Purpose

This role is responsible for managing the engineering activities for the design, development, coordination, implementation, execution and control of Projects ensuring consistency with Company strategy, commitments, and goals. The role is heavily oriented towards providing technical problem solving, decision-making, analysis of engineering department portfolio through the application of analytical and innovative techniques.

Key Accountabilities
  • Support the Senior Project Engineer in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure alignment with Project objectives, EPCC Contract requirements, Project procedures and managing design changes, technical queries, and field notes.
  • Track and report progress of engineering deliverables, highlighting deviations and supporting recovery actions.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and support implementation of design changes and field technical notes.
  • Review and comment on technical documentation submitted by EPCC Contractor, including datasheets, drawings, specifications, and vendor documents.
  • Verify compliance of EPCC Contractor’s technical submissions with approved project-specific specifications and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection and expediting activities at vendor and subcontractor facilities.
  • Follow up on fabrication progress and support resolution of NCRs or fabrication defects reported by subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the construction team to ensure proper installation of equipment and systems in accordance with engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in on-site inspections to verify compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Support mechanical completion activities, including punch list generation, classification (A/B/C), and closure.
  • Ensure readiness of systems for pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
  • Monitor engineering deliverables against the commissioning-driven project schedule and report deviations.
  • Coordinate with EPCC Contractor and internal teams to ensure timely completion of engineering inputs required for commissioning.
  • Coordinate engineering interfaces between internal departments (Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Procurement) and EPCC Contractor.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary reviews such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, QRA, and 3D model reviews, and ensure closure of action items.
  • Support identification and tracking of engineering-related risks and contribute to the Project Risk Register.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with Environmental Impact Assessment, HSE, and quality requirements.
  • Provide inputs to monthly engineering progress reports and dashboards.
  • Maintain records of technical reviews, NCR resolutions, inspection outcomes, and interface coordination.
  • Support audit preparation and participate in lessons learned sessions.
  • Oversee development and review of process design deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, and process simulations.
  • Ensure process design aligns with licensor requirements, safety standards, and operational philosophy.
  • Ensure fire protection, gas detection, and emergency systems are designed per NFPA and QAFCO standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments and ensure implementation of safety recommendations.
  • Manage the progress of all activities in the area of responsibility and ensure adherence to the approved EPCC Contract Schedule Baseline and report any deviation to the Project Controls Department through the line responsible.
  • Ensure that EPCC Contractor schedule is commissioning driven and follow up schedule and progress including detection of deviation from the EPCC Contract schedule.
  • Shall ensure Project Close Out with EPCC Contractor in line with PIM and Project Procedures.
Desired Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or relevant discipline.
  • 8 Years of direct and relevant experience within the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry, or EPC company.
  • Good exposure to process engineering software design and knowledge in all aspects of Process Engineering implementation and execution based on International Standards.
  • Having strong skills of Project Management, Leadership and team management.
  • Must have experience in Urea Major Projects
