Job Description

Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.

Work closely with the Principal to establish effective and globally relevant practices of learning & teaching. Implement the school's vision for quality in the school linked with the GEMS expectation of excellent education.

Integrate GEMS core values into the planning and delivery of all curricular and co-curricular lessons and activities.

Develop monitoring and evaluation systems to assess teaching and learning standards, and implement any necessary improvement strategies.

Assist staff develop professionally and meet time-based improvement targets.

Conduct needs-based lesson observation / lesson appraisal and provide focused feedback in order to meet school targets.

Develop positive links with parents and the wider community through consistent and clear communication.

Liaise with the Registrar regarding new students’ needs, induction procedures, admission testing, etc.

Ensure provision of support classes / activity programmes, educational trips, assemblies & special days.

Assist with Parent – Teacher meetings, Charity drives, GEMS initiatives & other school events.

Chair meetings & head committees.

Manage budgets and undertake teaching and other professional duties as delegated by the HOS & SMT.

Ensure the curriculum reflects the needs of the pupils and the standards & content required by the Regulatory board.

Work with the HODs and coordinators to ensure continuity & progression in terms of the school curriculum.

Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.

Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday, where the tasks require additional commitment.

Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers / supervisors.
