Job summary

Employment is seeking experienced mortgage underwriters for flexible, part-time, project-based work. You will evaluate AI-assisted underwriting decisions across conforming and non-conforming loan types, and craft test cases for income calculations for self-employed borrowers.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in mortgage or financial services, deep knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guides, and strong written English to draft compliant letters and notices.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in mortgage underwriting and related financial services.
• Ability to calculate qualifying income for self-employed borrowers from IRS forms.
• Strong written English (C1+) and regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated mortgage underwriting decisions across loan types.
• Create test cases for self-employed income (Schedule C, Schedule E, K-1).
• Draft and audit conditional approval letters and adverse action notices for Reg B / ECOA compliance.
• Distinguish selling guide rules from lender overlays in jumbo and non-conforming loans.
• Document problem statements clearly and provide verified correct answers.
