Overview
This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the hotel’s interior and exterior surfaces to ensure a clean, attractive, and welcoming environment. This position focuses on quality workmanship and timely completion of painting and surface preparation tasks, supporting the overall maintenance and appearance of the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and filling holes or cracks to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Apply paint, varnish, stains, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and furniture using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Maintain the hotel’s aesthetic standards by ensuring clean, smooth, and even paint finishes on all assigned surfaces.
- Conduct routine inspections and touch-ups on painted surfaces to address wear and damage.
- Remove old paint and wallpaper as needed for renovation or maintenance projects.
- Use ladders, scaffolding, and lifts safely to access high or hard-to-reach areas.
- Coordinate with the engineering and maintenance teams to schedule painting work without disrupting hotel operations.
- Ensure all painting work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain painting tools, equipment, and inventory of supplies; report needs to supervisor.
- Document work completed and report any maintenance issues discovered during painting.
Qualifications
- Secondary / High school education
- Proven experience as a professional painter, preferably in commercial or hospitality settings
- Knowledge of various painting techniques, materials, and tools
- Ability to prepare and paint surfaces efficiently and to a high standard of quality
- Familiarity with safety protocols, including the handling of hazardous materials like solvents and paint removers
- Physical ability to stand, bend, climb, and lift for extended periods
- Attention to detail and a good eye for color and finish quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
