Job summary

QShield LLC is seeking an experienced IP Operations Engineer to join our Network Operations team in Doha. The role focuses on Nokia IP/MPLS networks, ensuring high availability and performance across live telecom environments.

The ideal candidate will manage Nokia 7750 SR, WBX, and VSR platforms, perform upgrades, and automate routine tasks with Python. We value deep protocol knowledge (BGP/OSPF/IS-IS/MPLS), strong troubleshooting skills, Linux experience, and the ability to work in a 24/7

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven hands-on experience with Nokia IP/MPLS in live telecom environments.
• Strong Python scripting skills for automation.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VRF and IP routing.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, operate and troubleshoot Nokia IP/MPLS network infrastructure.
• Provide hands-on operational support for Nokia 7750 SR, WBX, VSR and Load Balancer platforms.
• Perform software upgrades, patching and configuration changes; manage capacity expansion.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IP Operations Engineer to join our client’s Network Operations team within Customer Operations.

The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Nokia IP/MPLS solutions and technical ownership of complex IP networks, ensuring high availability, performance, resilience and operational reliability across live telecom networks.

The ideal candidate will have extensive operational and troubleshooting experience with Nokia 7750 SR, WBX and VSR, combined with strong IP/MPLS protocol knowledge and Python scripting/automation skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, operate and troubleshoot Nokia IP/MPLS network infrastructure.
• Provide hands-on operational support for Nokia 7750 SR, WBX, VSR and Load Balancer platforms.
• Perform software upgrades, patching, configuration changes, capacity expansion and lifecycle management of IP network elements.
• Configure, operate and troubleshoot routing and transport technologies including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, VRF, VLAN, QoS and related IP services.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of routing, connectivity, packet loss, latency, congestion, traffic-flow and service availability issues.
• Conduct detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents, recurring faults and network performance degradations.
• Monitor network KPIs, alarms, interfaces, traffic utilization, routing status and system health to ensure service continuity.
• Prepare and maintain configuration baselines, network documentation, operational procedures, change plans, rollback procedures and technical reports.
• Participate in planned network changes and maintenance, ensuring proper risk assessment, validation, rollback readiness and post-change verification.
• Support integration, acceptance, commissioning and migration of new IP network elements, services and features.
• Lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maintain network availability and service quality.
• Develop Python scripts and automation tools for health checks, configuration validation, data collection, reporting and repetitive network tasks.
• Identify opportunities for network automation, operational efficiency and process improvement.
• Generate periodic network health-check, capacity, availability, performance and fault-analysis reports.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience with Nokia IP/MPLS solutions in live telecom network environments.
• Strong hands-on operational experience with Nokia 7750 SR, WBX, VSR and Load Balancer products.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, VRF, VLAN, QoS and IP routing technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting capability across Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks, including routing, switching, transport and service connectivity issues.
• Strong Python scripting skills, with practical experience in network and operational task automation.
• Good understanding of Linux OS and command-line troubleshooting.
• Experience in software upgrades, network migrations, configuration management, capacity expansion and change management.
• Solid understanding of network performance monitoring, KPI management, incident management, problem management and root cause analysis.
• Ability to independently handle complex technical incidents and lead troubleshooting during critical network events.
• Excellent documentation, analytical, communication and coordination skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Able to work in shifts to support 24/7 operations.
