Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an Offshore Structural Engineer for offshore projects in Qatar. Overview

Job Title: Offshore Structural Engineer – Discipline

Location: Qatar (Offshore Projects)

Contract Type: 12-month Secondment

Work Schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off, 8–10 hours per day

Role Purpose

Support offshore greenfield and brownfield projects by performing structural engineering tasks to ensure designs are compliant, safe, and aligned with International and COMPANY standards, including Shell DEP, EN, ISO, and API codes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed structural engineering for offshore facilities including jackets and topside fixed platforms across Concept, FEED, and Detail Engineering phases.
  • Ensure compliance with international and company engineering standards and guidelines.
  • Prepare comment resolution sheets, address client technical queries, and coordinate approvals.
  • Conduct brownfield analyses, including:
    • Global in-place, seismic, and boat impact assessments
    • Spectral fatigue studies (RBI)
    • Pushover analysis
    • Local topside and deck extension/modification assessments including rigging design and installation sequencing
  • Perform miscellaneous calculations for subsea clamp design, doubler plates, node plates, equipment supports, monorail beams, and local beam/plate checks.
  • Prepare design calculations and analysis reports using Excel and Mathcad.
  • Review fabrication and detailed drawings to ensure constructability and design integrity.
  • Conduct offshore site surveys and prepare survey reports.
  • Utilize model review software such as ACAD, E3D, PDS, and Navisworks (advantageous).
  • Apply basic knowledge of geotechnical data and pile foundations using PSI.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

  • Experience in Concept, FEED, and Detail Engineering phases.
Technical Skills
  • SACS (mandatory); SESAM, MOSES, Staad Pro (advantageous).
  • ACAD, E3D, PDS, Navisworks.
  • Excel and Mathcad for calculations and reporting.
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards (API, EN, ISO).
