Your Role

As the Road Logistics Manager for Qatar, you will be responsible for developing Kuehne+Nagel’s road logistics product in the country, including expanding existing operations. Your role involves developing and executing an organic growth strategy targeting cross-border and domestic transportation, as well as haulage. You will ensure operational excellence by setting quality KPIs and implementing new businesses in a structured manner. Additionally, you will leverage new technologies such as transport management systems, visibility tools, and telematics to enhance efficiency and service quality. Your responsibilities include operational and disciplinary oversight, leadership, and day-to-day management of the business, along with overall P&L responsibility. You will report directly to the Managing Director of Qatar and functionally to the Senior Vice President of Road Logistics for the Middle East and Africa.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Develop and execute an organic growth strategy for the Road business in Qatar. Foster strong customer relationships, acquire new business, develop existing client accounts, and lead account management.
  2. Drive business development processes, including tender analysis, solution design, costing, and service offerings.
  3. Implement advanced customer and carrier visibility tools, such as Kuehne Nagel’s digital road logistics platform, leveraging technology for a competitive edge and superior customer experience.
  4. Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities, including potential acquisitions, new services, and partnerships.
  5. Continuously improve Road Logistics operations through standardized processes, IT applications, and operational control systems (KPIs).
  6. Oversee the department’s operational activities, including staffing, performance evaluations, and achieving local goals.
  7. Become an active member of the National Management Team in Qatar.
  8. Foster cross-country collaboration and drive joint business development initiatives.
  9. Implement a robust carrier management program to support business growth.
  10. Develop and monitor the annual budget, taking corrective actions as needed.
  11. Build and lead the Road Logistics department. Recruit, evaluate, and review staff performance.
  12. Promote talent development through tailored education and training.
  13. Conduct performance reviews, offering coaching and career development with HR support.
Your Skills and Experiences
  1. 10+ years of experience in Logistics & Transportation, preferably in a 3PL or competitive services environment.
  2. Senior-level business development experience within logistics or service-based industries.
  3. Proven leadership in direct and indirect reporting structures (line or project management).
  4. Strong leadership skills with excellent teamwork abilities.
  5. Ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts internally and externally.
  6. Strategic vision with the ability to see the big picture, understand complex processes, and identify new business opportunities.
  7. Creative thinker who challenges traditional approaches and fosters change.
  8. In-depth knowledge of the Middle Eastern Road Logistics market.
  9. Fluent in English (written and spoken); Arabic language skills are a plus.
  10. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
