Job summary

Snoonu in Qatar is seeking an experienced data engineer to enhance day-to-day ETL activities, integrating new sources and extending batch and streaming pipelines across a modern data stack. This role focuses on building real-time pipelines with infrastructure-as-code, supporting BI data quality, and enabling data extraction for downstream systems.

We value Python, open-source tools like dbt and Airflow, and a stack including Databricks, PySpark, SQL, GCP, AWS, and BigQuery to drive scalable

Qualifications

• Programming skills with multiple languages or Python frameworks.
• Experience with open-source tools such as dbt and Airflow.
• Strong SQL skills including subqueries, window functions and CTEs.
• Knowledge of Databricks, delta tables and PySpark.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g., AWS CloudFormation).

Responsibilities

• Integrating new sources using the existing batch and streaming ETL system.
• Creating real-time pipelines using an infrastructure-as-code approach.
• Supporting the BI team by investigating data quality issues.
• Helping teams extract data from the warehouse into their systems.
• Participating in ETL system migrations for scalability and performance.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced engineer to help with our day-to-day activities, including integrating new sources and extending our ETL infrastructure. Our current system includes various tools and services such as workflow management systems, message brokers, a data lake, a data warehouse, and infrastructure-as-code tools. As the company grows, new teams are forming around the DE team, and they need help with their batch and streaming pipelines.

We also have ETL system process improvements that go along with team interactions. If you have good programming skills or knowledge in the data engineering field and want to join our development process, we are waiting for you. Although we value good programmers even if they lack experience in other areas, the following is the formal set of requirements that will help you in this future job:

What You’ll Get Your Hands On:

• Integrating new sources using the existing batch and streaming ETL system
• Creating new real-time pipelines using an infrastructure-as-code approach
• Supporting the BI team by investigating corner cases and working on data quality issues
• Supporting teams in extracting data from the warehouse into their systems
• Taking part in ETL systems migrations to ensure a consistent, performant, and scalable design.

The Magic You Bring:

• Programming skills, e.g., experience with several programming languages or Python frameworks
• Experience with open-source tools (dbt, Airflow)
• SQL skills, including the ability to apply subqueries, window functions, and CTEs
• Databricks platform, delta tables, and PySpark
• Experience with or a desire to learn infrastructure as code, e.g., AWS CloudFormation.
