A leading recruitment firm seeks a Marine Pilot to ensure safe and efficient pilotage for vessels in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have a Master Mariner certificate and a minimum of 10 years of sea-going experience, including significant time as Chief Officer on large vessels. Qualifications

  • Master Mariner (FG) Class I certificate required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of sea-going experience as an Officer of the Watch.
  • At least 5 years as Chief Officer or Master on large vessels (VLCC, Capesize).
  • Alternatively, 5 years as Chief Officer or Master on large vessels plus 5 years' experience as a Marine Pilot.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pilotage services for large vessels.
  • Ensure navigation safety in various port operations.
  • Oversee and coordinate port cargo operations.
  • Identify and manage occupational hazards.
  • Provide technical guidance for efficient port operations.

Overview

Job Title: Marine Pilot

Department: Port Operations

Primary Purpose of the Role

Provide safe and efficient pilotage for all types of vessels calling at port facilities, including approaches, channel navigation, harbour movements, and offshore mooring operations.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver pilotage services for large vessels, including VLCC and Capesize classes
  • Ensure navigation safety in approach channels, harbour areas, and offshore mooring operations
  • Apply detailed knowledge of international, national, and local maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and STCW conventions
  • Oversee and coordinate large-scale port cargo operations in line with port policies and operational standards
  • Identify and manage occupational hazards while upholding high safety standards in port areas
  • Provide technical guidance, planning, and supervision to ensure efficient port operations
  • Maintain clear and concise communication across teams and stakeholders
  • Contribute to hazard assessments, audits, and quality assurance initiatives
Qualifications
  • Master Mariner (FG) Class I certificate
  • Minimum of 10 years of sea-going experience as an Officer of the Watch, including at least 5 years as Chief Officer or Master on large vessels (VLCC, Capesize)
