Job description

Manager - Communications

McKinsey & Company in Doha, DAW, QA.

This Full time on site position offers great opportunities for career growth.

YOUR IMPACT

You will proactively shape creative communications strategies to showcase McKinsey’s knowledge and assets, maintain the firm’s reputation, and bring campaigns to life in the MEO. You will lead the planning and execution of flagship events, roundtables, and partner dinners, while also managing sponsorship negotiations and speaking opportunities. Your work involves supporting practice-specific events in collaboration with client activation teams, overseeing event vendors as needed, and driving post-event amplification in partnership with the Digital Lead. Additionally, you will ensure firm themes are seamlessly integrated into the overall branding and narrative for a cohesive and impactful event strategy.

In terms of creating effective communications: you’ll drive high-quality writing and editing by leading/enabling teams to develop clear, structured and engaging written communications that rigorously follow conventions of written English (and local languages when relevant). Along with cell leaders, you will manage the firm’s reputational risk by mapping strengths/weaknesses and handling opportunities/threats.

You’ll anticipate, identify and respond to reputation risk issues to protect and enhance McKinsey's reputation by reviewing materials and proactively shaping narratives. You’ll conduct strategic assessments to support execution and prioritization of communication campaigns and events (e.g., competitor insights, event speaker research), collating insights into actionable formats for leadership and ensuring alignment with project briefs when applicable. You’ll establish high-quality and consistent branding (i.e., firm's signature voice, visuals, and narrative) across communications platforms and channels in support of relevant brand pivots, ensuring resonance with target audiences and alignment with strategic objectives.

In terms of project management and creation: you’ll define and direct appropriate strategic communications objectives and strategies to achieve them; help radiate priorities and important topics across existing channels, and ensure appropriate positioning with key stakeholders. You’ll manage development and dissemination of external and/or internal websites and publications. You’ll develop and execute reputation‑building programs through a mix of publishing activities (e.g., monitoring of media relations and public relations, targeted knowledge dissemination).

You’ll identify, secure and manage appropriate partnerships with internal or external stakeholders and build network of key editors, journalists, policymakers, senior executives, and academics and work with partners to strengthen relationships with these audiences. You’ll also advise and counsel partners in developing networking programs to strengthen relationships with clients, potential clients and media. You’ll manage communications team, including hiring, developing, coaching, and evaluating team members, as applicable. You’ll develop strategy and corresponding metrics to measure impact and implement related data collection/reporting mechanisms, applying analysis to optimize decision-making and outreach strategies across the marketing funnel following firm unified measurement guidelines and frameworks.

You will foster an agile team environment, encouraging iterative work processes, delivering work‑in‑progress frequently, and collaborating in quick, iterative rounds. Furthermore, you’ll coach and support immediate team and junior colleagues, as applicable and enable a collaborative and inclusive environment for the team while empowering individuals to be innovative and performance‑driven. You’ll manage contact databases to maximize dissemination and engagement. You will actively gather audience insight to be shared with authors and stakeholders, adjusting outreach strategies to optimize engagement across the marketing funnel. You’ll role model Marketing Mindsets behaviors, ensuring the team receives adequate training, actively uses MM tools and terminology, and applies them to drive impactful outcomes.

You will join a group of communications professionals within the firm’s Reach and Engagement function. These colleagues help ensure that appropriate insights reach designated audiences, delivering tailored and impactful messaging to build awareness and engagement with McKinsey’s distinctive knowledge on a variety of topics. They shape the way the firm connects with people—from clients to employees to alumni—strengthening institutional relationships, connections and affiliations. Through partnership with senior leaders and stakeholders across communications initiatives, you will serve as a leader to your team and will drive the development and execution of best‑in‑class global communications programs, events, and publications that will enable client activation and funnel building across all channels.

By leveraging strategic project briefs, data‑driven insights, and a deep understanding of audience needs, you will ensure communications efforts are aligned with the firm’s priorities and deliver measurable impact. You will proactively shape creative communications content and tactics to showcase McKinsey’s capabilities, knowledge, and assets. Additionally, you will maintain McKinsey’s reputation, punctuate its expertise, and bring campaigns to life in relevant ways across channels, platforms, and stakeholders. You will be based in Doha, Qatar as part of the MEO Communications team.
