Lead HSSEQ Superintendent – Fleet Safety & Compliance

Job summary

Confidential Client in Qatar is seeking an experienced HSSEQ Superintendent to support safe vessel operations and uphold health, safety, security, environmental, and quality standards across its fleet.

Reporting to the Fleet HSSEQ Manager, you will maintain the SMS, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continual improvement. The role requires extensive experience in maritime health and safety and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent maritime qualification.
• Eight years in occupational health and safety, with at least four years in oil, gas, shipping.
• Master experience is an advantage.
• Extensive knowledge of environmental management systems.
• Experience with ISO, ISPS, TMSA, HSSEQ audits.
• CSO and DPA responsibilities experience.
• Strong ISM/ISPS Codes understanding in shipping.
• Proven ability to improve safety management systems and procedures.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the company SMS reflecting regulatory requirements and operational needs.
• Coordinate policy updates and management of change processes.
• Support implementation of quality, environmental and health & safety standards.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate requirements across the business.
• Maintain compliance and certification against ISM and ISPS Codes.
• Conduct internal ISM/ISPS audits and close out findings.
• Monitor HSSEQ actions and KPI scorecards.
• Support incident investigations and preventive measures.
• Act as deputy DPA and alternate CSO as required.
• Develop vessel security procedures and emergency response plans.
• Plan and conduct emergency drills and crisis management exercises.
• Distribute company circulars and SMS updates to vessels.
• Train staff on SMS and follow up on implementation.
• Collaborate with Fleet, planning, partners, and authorities to uphold HSSEQ standards.
