Job summary

A leading company in the oil and gas sector is looking for an Instrument Technician in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in maintenance within a petrochemical environment, focusing on instrument calibration and compliance with safety standards. This role demands strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years experience in refinery or petrochemical maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of control valves, transmitters and commissioning.
  • Proficient in using and caring for test and calibration equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electronic, and 'smart' instruments.
  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and installation of instrument systems.
  • Work in compliance with plant safety standards and procedures.

Job description


Minimum Qualifications
-Diploma or equivalent or Trade certificate in any engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
-Middle east/Gulf experience will be an added advantage/preferences
-Proficiency in English Language (Speak, Read and Write)
-Understand and follow plant safety standards and procedures.
-Able to write and express ideas, instructions and procedures.
-Familiarization in use of SAP PM/ MM.
Minimum Work Experience
-At least 5 years work experience in refinery or petrochemical Oil and Gas plant in maintenance field.
-Should possess strong practical experience in multi-craft maintenance activities.
-Should have maintenance knowledge in all type of Instruments, Control valves, transmitter and / or commissioning, loop testing and start-up activities.
-Understand and read the loop drawing.
-Understand and read the cause and effect document
-Be conversant with petrochemical plant safety standards and practices. Understanding of the hazards involved in the industry.
-Acquaintance with the materials and equipment s in the oil and gas industry
-Knowledge in the ware house functions like intending, standardizing, inventory control etc.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the team.
Job Requirements (but not limited to)
-Understand and follow plant safety standards and procedures. Be familiar with typical petrochemical plant safety hazards.
-Understand and follow standard maintenance procedures.
-Understand and follow manufacturer's troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
-Correctly use and care for test and calibration equipment.
-Follow good housekeeping practices.
-Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electronic and "smart" instruments.
-Troubleshoot and repair PLC's, and TMR systems (Triconex).
-Calibrate pneumatic, electronic and digital instruments.
-Overhaul control valves and other instruments.
-Read and understand P&ID, Loop, Logic and Electrical drawings.
-Follow ISO procedural requirements for calibration and record keeping.
-Tune feedback control loops.
-Follow plant preventive maintenance procedures.
-Function test safety critical instrument systems following provided written procedures.
-Understand maintenance and calibration requirements for instrument systems such as compressor controls, vibration monitoring, boiler controls, interlock systems, emergency shutdown systems, fire and gas detection systems.
-In addition to his normal jobs, he should assist and participate in other maintenance activities.
-Safe and proper care of tools.
-Work as a team with operations, engineering, and maintenance.
-Take initiative, look for opportunities to improve instrument reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
-Actively participate in company safety and training programs.
-Train Subordinates & co workers. Report on work progress & maintenance activities.
-Function test safety critical instrument systems following provided written procedures.
-Understand maintenance and calibration requirements for instrument systems such as compressor controls, vibration monitoring, boiler controls, interlock systems, emergency shutdown systems, fire and gas detection systems.
-In addition to his normal jobs, he should assist and participate in other maintenance activities.
