Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Engineer to support the safe and environmentally responsible delivery of structures and infrastructure activities. You will work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, contractors and client representatives to monitor compliance, identify risks and promote effective health, safety and environmental practices.

Through regular site engagement, inspections, assurance activities and practical technical guidance, you will help

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, environmental management, engineering or related field.
• Experience in construction or infrastructure projects with HSE oversight.
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits or HSE assurance activities.
• Ability to review risk assessments and contractor HSE documentation.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements for project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and improvement of project HSE requirements.
• Monitor site activities against HSE plans, risk assessments and method statements.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and document findings to closure.
• Review contractor HSE plans and related documentation.
• Identify hazards and propose practical control measures.
• Provide HSE guidance to project teams and contractors.
• Support incident and near-miss reporting and investigations.
• Contribute to inductions, toolbox talks and HSE awareness activities.
• Maintain inspection reports, registers and HSE performance information.
• Promote environmental practices, waste management and resource use.
• Support continuous improvement and digital HSE tools.
