Job summary

Tanqeeb is seeking a seasoned leader to head the Data Governance Unit within a banking environment in Doha. You will establish and mature the enterprise data governance framework, drive ownership and stewardship, and lead cross-functional data governance initiatives to enable analytics and AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in data management/governance within banking or financial services.
• Experience establishing and operationalizing enterprise data governance from the ground up.
• Strong hands-on experience implementing data governance programs and policy development.
• Proven ability to define data ownership and stewardship frameworks.
• Knowledge of data quality, metadata, lineage, and critical data elements.

Responsibilities

• Establish, implement, and mature the enterprise data governance framework, operating model, policies, standards, and controls.
• Drive data governance adoption across Business, IT, Risk, Compliance, and Audit.
• Define and implement data ownership and data stewardship models with clear accountability.
• Develop governance forums, councils, and escalation mechanisms for enterprise data management.
• Lead initiatives on data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and data catalogs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and support audits; oversee tool implementation and optimization.
• Drive master data governance and establish a trusted source of enterprise data.
• Align governance initiatives with digital transformation, analytics, and AI strategies.
• Lead and develop a specialist data governance team and promote a data-driven culture across the bank.
