Job summary

Ably Resources in Qatar is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager / Head of Commissioning to lead safe, efficient delivery of commissioning, start-up and handover across a major power project.

You will manage multidisciplinary commissioning teams, drive operational readiness and ensure final handover to the asset team, while upholding the highest safety, quality and environmental standards in line with project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 15+ years across operations, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Experience in power generation or complex process facilities.
• Onshore/offshore exposure.
• 8+ years in commissioning leadership/management.
• Gulf regional experience preferred.
• Professional engineering or project management membership advantageous.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Job description

We are supporting a major client with the appointment of an experienced Commissioning Manager / Head of Commissioning to lead the safe and successful delivery of commissioning, start-up and handover activities across a major project in power generation.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing multidisciplinary commissioning teams and ensuring assets are fully prepared for safe, reliable and sustainable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commissioning, operational readiness, start-up and handover activities
• Manage Lead and Senior Commissioning Engineers, discipline engineers and technicians
• Establish safe, consistent and effective commissioning practices
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, operations and project stakeholders
• Oversee system completion, testing, documentation and final acceptance
• Ensure facilities are operationally ready before being transferred to the asset team
• Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental performance

Candidate requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 15 years’ experience across operations, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up
• Strong experience within power generation or complex process facilities
• Exposure to both onshore and/or offshore environments
• At least 8 years’ experience in commissioning leadership or management positions
• Previous experience working in the Arabian Gulf is preferred
• Professional engineering or project management membership would be advantageous
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Able to lead complex activities and make sound decisions under pressure
