Job summary

Renco S.p.A. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join a global team supporting installation, commissioning, maintenance, and outages of heavy rotating equipment, including GE gas turbines and compressors.

You will lead on-site activities, diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues, provide technical guidance to crews and clients, and ensure strict adherence to HSE protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; significant field experience may substitute.
• Minimum of 5 years as Field Service Engineer, Technical Advisor, or Millwright with heavy rotating equipment.
• Proven hands-on experience with GE Gas Turbines and GE/Nuovo Pignone compressors.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems related to turbines and compressors.
• Familiarity with GE turbine control systems (Speedtronic Mark V/VI/VIe) and vibration monitoring systems (Bently Nevada).
• Proficiency with borescope inspection equipment and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and inspections on GE gas turbines and compressors.
• Diagnose complex mechanical, fluid, and operational issues and implement effective solutions using manuals, drawings, and diagnostic tools.
• Provide technical leadership to craft labor, Sub-contractors, and client personnel during outage execution.
• Perform borescope inspections, measurements, and laser alignments; prepare detailed field service reports.
• Assist in outage planning: define scope, tooling, spare parts, and labor estimates.
• Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols; lead toolbox talks and JSAs prior to work.
• Act as on-site face of Renco S.p.A. and advise customers on operation and maintenance best practices.

SCOPE OF WORK:

We are currently building a dedicated and long-term Field Service Team for the installation, commissioning, shutdowns, maintenance, and replacement activities of heavy duty gas turbine / aeroderivative gas turbine / centrifugal or reciprocal compressors.

This team will be actively deployed on a continuous basis across our global projects, including the Middle East, Asia, North/Central/South America, and Europe, supporting critical operations in diverse and dynamic environments.

Duties & responsabilities

• Lead and perform on-site installation, commissioning, routine maintenance, and major/minor inspections (e.g., Combustion, Hot Gas Path, and Major outages) on GE gas turbines and compressors;
• Diagnose complex mechanical, fluid, and operational issues. Utilize technical manuals, drawings, and diagnostic tools to determine root causes and implement effective solutions;
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to craft labor, sub-contractors, and client personnel during outage execution;
• Perform precision measurements, borescope inspections, and laser alignments. Prepare comprehensive, timely, and highly detailed field service reports, documenting all findings, actions taken, and recommendations for the client;
• Assist in outage planning, including defining scope, determining tooling requirements, identifying spare parts, and estimating labor needs;
• Strictly adhere to, and enforce, all company and customer Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols. Lead daily toolbox talks and complete Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) prior to commencing work;
• Act as the face of Company on site. Advise customers on best practices for equipment operation, maintenance schedules, and performance optimization.

Required competences

• Proven, hands‑on experience with GE Gas Turbines (e.g., Frame 5, 6, 7, 9, or LM series) and/or GE/Nuovo Pignone centrifugal compressors;
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and auxiliary systems related to turbines and compressors;
• Familiarity with GE turbine control systems (e.g., Speedtronic Mark V, VI, VIe) and vibration monitoring systems (e.g., Bently Nevada);
• Strong proficiency with borescope inspection equipment and reporting.

Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. (Significant, direct field experience may be substituted for formal education);
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer, Technical Advisor, or Millwright working specifically with heavy rotating equipment.
