Airswift is seeking an Engineering Lead (Civil & Structural) for an onshore LNG/oil & gas project in Qatar. You will oversee the civil and structural design, materials, execution definitions, and detailed design through to PAC, coordinating with EPC contractors and stakeholders.

The role requires 8 years in Civil/Structural Engineering, including 4 years in Oil & Gas and at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity, plus experience with LNG and Qatar operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Civil & Structural Engineering.
  • 8 years of Civil & Structural experience, including 4 years in Oil & Gas and 1 year in supervisory roles.
  • Experience with LNG projects and Qatar operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead civil & structural engineering discipline activities and contribute to project goals.
  • Lead technical activities with project owner, contractors, vendors and consultants.
  • Develop, update and amend policies and procedures for the Onshore Department as needed.
  • Coordinate with external engineering teams and ensure design meets company and project requirements.
  • Provide guidance to EPC Contractors and 3rd Party services across project phases.
  • Ensure adherence to PMS and project schedules; support procurement and contracting activities.

Job Purpose

Responsible for overseeing the onshore EPC contractor in the delivery of all aspects of Civil & Structural design, materials, technical and execution definition, including planning and execution of detailed design, procurement, and installation. Ensures technical requirements (e.g., project specifications, procedure etc.) developed and implemented during EPC, fully comply with project requirements and through effective collaboration and interfaces ensures process design considers for full production life cycle.

Job Context

The position is responsible for verifying the design and implementation of Civil & Structural deliverables including:

  • RC structure
  • Steel structure
  • Underground facilities
  • Building Structure
  • Architecture in Field
Major Challenges
  • Effectively managing EPC contract and Civil & Structural Engineering team to deliver technical input in accordance with project requirements from contract award until delivery of Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC).
  • Maintaining constructive working relationship with EPC contractor to ensure delivery of engineering work scope in accordance with project requirements.
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders (e.g., Operations and SHEQ) to ensure alignment of Engineering deliverables.
Key Job Accountabilities
  • Lead civil & structure engineering discipline activities and contribute to the project department strategy and goals.
  • Lead technical activities through interactions with the project owner, shareholder, facilities owner, contractors, vendors, consultants.
  • Develop, update and amend various policies and procedures related to Onshore Department as and when required in consultation with the Engineering Manager and other team leaders.
  • Support the engineering team of external organizations, entities appointed representatives to ensure engineering design addresses each companies’ expectations consistent with company and Project’s objectives.
  • Evaluate complex tasks and provide appropriate recommendations to management on Onshore issues. Provide support to other disciplines and contribute to other multidisciplinary tasks.
  • Develop, introduce and maintain best practices, Lessons Learned, systems and software tools that will continuously improve execution of the projects and optimize cost effective implementation activities.
  • Ensures compliance with systems and processes including the Project Management System (PMS) and maintains support and adoption of all processes. Prepare plans and work schedules that ensure effective completion of projects.
  • Participate in contracting and procurement activities to ensure technical requirements are met from pre-qualification, preparation of bid invitations and requests for quotation, bidding, evaluations, contract execution and performance, and contract(s) close-out.
  • Monitors and provides necessary guidance to the EPC Contractor(s) and all 3rd Party Services throughout the project phases. Ensures the facilities are constructed per the scope, meeting company standards and specifications, within the time and project cost approved by the shareholders.
  • Maintains full project chronology of civil and structural engineering design revisions (including cause/effect data) for use in contract administration.
Minimum Requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering.
Knowledge And/or Experience
  • 8 years experience in Civil & Structural Engineering roles, including 4 years in the Oil & Gas Industry, and including 1 year's experience in a supervisory or acting role, or oversight of contractor/subcontractors/service/vendor personnel.
  • Preferable experience in a major LNG Project.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering execution including design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, onshore LNG facilities and utility systems design, construction and operations.
  • Previous Experience with Civil/Structural works in Qatar.

  • Strong organisational, planning and coordination skills.
  • Strong technical, prioritisation and management skills.
  • Good communication, influencing and interface skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, etc.
