Job summary

Qureos in Doha, Qatar, seeks an experienced Electrical Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on MV/LV electrical systems common to water treatment operations. You will troubleshoot motors, pumps, MCCs, VFDs, and switchgear while reading schematics and ensuring safety compliance.

The role requires 3–5 years of industrial electrical maintenance, a Diploma/ITI in electrical fields, and familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems. Water treatment experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma / ITI / Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• 3-5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, or desalination plants is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair motors and pumps.
• Maintain MCC panels, LV/MV systems, and associated electrical components.
• Work with PLC and SCADA-related electrical components.
• Inspect and test electrical panels, breakers, relays, and control circuits.
• Assist in plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning activities.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and single-line diagrams.
• Ensure safety procedures, LOTO, and permit-to-work compliance.
• Coordinate with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to minimize downtime.
• Maintain maintenance records and spare-parts inventory.
• Support emergency breakdown maintenance on a shift basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Switchgear and transformers
• Power distribution systems (LV/MV)
• PLC and SCADA-related electrical components
• Inspect, test, and maintain electrical panels, breakers, relays, and control circuits.
• Assist in plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning activities.
• Monitor plant electrical performance and identify potential failures.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and wiring schematics.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work systems.
• Coordinate with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to minimize downtime.
• Maintain maintenance records, reports, and spare-parts inventory.
• Support emergency breakdown maintenance on a shift basis.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma / ITI / Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• 3-5 years (or as specified) of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, or desalination plants is preferred.

Electrical Technician’s Key Skills:

• Hands-on experience in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting MV (Medium Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage) switchgear, as well as MV and LV VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical control schematic drawings with ease.
• Experience working with UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems.
• Working knowledge and hands-on experience with insulation resistance testers.
• Knowledge of MV and LV switchgear protection relays and their applications.
• Experience working with power transformers and associated electrical equipment.
• Hands-on experience in circuit breaker operations, including electrical isolation and de-isolation procedures.
