We are seeking an Electrical Engineer (Transformer Oil) to join our team at Gulf Lab. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in transformer oil chemistry, testing, and interpretation, with a strong background in laboratory management and quality assurance. This role is significant in maintaining the high standards of Gulf Lab and delivering top-notch services to our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Update and manage technology used in tests and sample preparation.
  • Clarify technical queries from clients.
  • Identify minimum stock requirements for consumables and prepare requisitions.
  • Ensure effective implementation of ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
  • Arrange calibration of laboratory instruments and coordinate preventive maintenance.
  • Monitor performance of laboratory equipment and update Control Charts as needed.
  • Update analysis Work Instructions based on the latest international methods.
  • Coordinate test operations, troubleshoot issues, and report findings.
  • Participate in internal and external audit programs.
  • Serve as a referee for non-conformance investigations and corrective actions.
  • Commission new laboratory instruments and manage related documentation.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot laboratory instrument issues, coordinating repairs as necessary.
  • Ensure smooth and accurate testing of samples according to relevant standards.
  • Analyze and interpret oil analysis results, providing technical recommendations to clients.
  • Prepare mitigation plans for identified risks associated with related processes.
  • Report to the Laboratory Operations Manager/Technical Leader on daily activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training provided to employees.
  • Assess and manage laboratory staff requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a quality assurance or testing laboratory, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of transformer oil chemistry and analysis.
  • Strong supervision and management skills.
  • Familiarity with transformer oil filtration and regeneration (reclamation) as per international standards.
  • Knowledge of international standards related to transformer oil interpretations (IEC, IEEE, CIGRE, ASTM, etc.).
  • Registered membership in CIGRE and/or IEEE.
  • Experience in lubrication oil analysis and interpretation (ICML Level II Certification preferred).
  • Knowledge of offline and online electrical testing on high-voltage systems, including transformers, cables, switchgear, motors, and generators.
