Job Description
- Responsible for the technical review of Material Stock Descriptions and Material Requisitions for pressure retaining equipment (Mech-Static), parts, and spares.
- Ensure technical correctness and completeness of material descriptions with reference to relevant documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Evaluate technical bids for pressure retaining equipment, materials, spares, and provide comments/reports.
- Maintain systematic records of review comments, technical bid evaluations, and queries resolved.
- Assess manufacturers/vendors based on their profiles, documentation, certifications, and other reviews; prepare reports for approval.
- Interpret applicable standards, specifications, data sheets, project specifications, and P.O. requirements to evaluate the acceptance of jobs or supplied materials.
- Possess good understanding of metallurgy, materials, manufacturing processes, pressure vessel fabrication, mechanical testing, and failure analysis.
- Troubleshoot issues related to materials, welding, NDT, and pressure testing; provide advice on QA/QC matters.
- Develop welding procedures, QA/QC plans, method statements, and conduct related quality control activities.
- Review and approve QA/QC documents from vendors/contractors.
- Conduct periodic reviews and technical audits of suppliers and contractors' quality management systems.
- Supervise QA/QC activities such as welding, PMI, painting, NDT, hydrostatic testing, etc.
- Coordinate TPI inspections, review reports, and provide final clearance prior to shipment.
- Review Material Receiving Inspection Reports and approve dispositions.
- Identify discrepancies or falsifications in materials/certificates and report them.
- Undertake additional inspection duties as directed.
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering with good metallurgy knowledge.
- Additional certifications in Welding (CSWIP/AWS/IIW) and NDT (ASNT Level II or equivalent).
- Experience in conducting quality system audits, with Lead Auditor certification preferred.
- Minimum 10 years in engineering, fabrication, inspection, and testing of pressure retaining equipment, including at least 5 years in a lead/supervisory role.
- Certifications in painting, pressure vessel/piping inspection are advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of international codes, standards, and oil & gas sector practices.
- Knowledge of sour services and cryogenic applications is a plus.
