Head, Construction - Offshore Brownfield Projects


Location: Offshore / Fabrication Yard / Halul Island, Qatar


Employment Type: Contract


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Supplementary certifications or coursework in Safety, Quality Control, and Construction Management are preferred.

Experience:



  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in offshore fabrication, brownfield modification, and construction management within live production facilities and wellhead platforms.
  • Proven track record in FEED and EPIC project phases, with strong experience reviewing and approving contractor deliverables.
  • In-depth experience with brownfield modifications in live assets, including simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) and offshore wellhead platforms.
  • Proficient in industry standards, PDMS, inspection protocols, and construction documentation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to guide multi-national teams and interface with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • Fully computer literate in relevant project and construction management software.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


Project Construction Leadership:



  • Act as the primary focal point for offshore brownfield construction and modifications, ensuring execution aligns with scope, engineering design, quality, HSE standards, and requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate all Mechanical, Structural, Piping, and Telecom construction activities across live assets, remote wellhead platforms, and Halul Island.
  • Supervise contractor teams, ensuring adherence to approved method statements, lifting plans, ITPs, and project schedule.

Engineering & Technical Oversight:



  • Review and approve contractor deliverables via PDMS.
  • Attend and contribute to key engineering workshops:

    • Constructability Reviews
    • 3D Model Reviews
    • Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA)
    • HAZOP
    • SIMOPS Planning



  • Ensure designs and modifications are compliant withNational standards and tailored to brownfield conditions.

Execution Management & Risk Control:



  • Monitor, report, and control contractor activities including workforce deployment, equipment logistics, and construction progress.
  • Serve as Risk Management representative to identify and mitigate risks specific to live-asset modifications and offshore environments.
  • Liaise with discipline engineers, project teams, and asset holders to align design intent and execution readiness.

Commissioning & Handover:



  • Oversee Mechanical Completion (MCC), pre-commissioning, and commissioning coordination with EPIC contractors, vendors, and end users.
  • Ensure efficient contractor mobilization/demobilization to/from offshore sites post-award.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation including daily reports, contractor deviations, and corrective action tracking.

Interface & Collaboration:



  • Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical, safety, and execution challenges.
  • Interface regularly with Production, Maintenance, and Wellhead Operations teams.
  • Participate in weekly/monthly HSE walkthroughs and audits, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
