Job Summary
The Contracts and Commercial Director leads and directs the Group Contract and Commercial preparation activities for business units. Responsible for monitoring all types of agreements and contracts covering products/services provided by the organization to its clients, ensuring that the company meets its contractual obligations to customers with complete satisfaction after project award.
Job Responsibilities 1
- Direct all commercial issues that arise, including communicating and liaising with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Drive operations and profit plans to budget through effective leadership, organizational planning, customer service, and strategic execution.
- Develop and implement business strategies to achieve growth aligned with the organization's strategic plans.
- Monitor the implementation of commercial policies and procedures, ensuring legal compliance.
- Oversee ongoing projects, guiding contract managers and QS teams to meet company targets.
- Manage contract terms, pricing, and payment schedules to ensure agreements are commercially advantageous and within budgets.
- Develop and enforce a claim management schedule for contractual claims, variations, and change orders.
Job Responsibilities 2
- Ensure timely management, control, and tracking of variations and claims, with regular reporting.
- Facilitate the settlement and closure of pending contractual issues with clients for smooth project progression.
- Monitor project budgets, claims, time extensions, variations, and value engineering, advising management accordingly.
- Oversee the company's cash flow to ensure adherence to budgets.
- Support project teams with contractual advice and backing.
Additional Responsibilities 3
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Experience with contract claims and use of various contract forms like FIDIC.
- Knowledge of contract and tender requirements, Qatar specifications (QCS), and company policies.
- Expertise in contracting concepts, commercial codes, and local regulations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
Job Experience
Minimum 8 years of experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role and 2 years GCC experience preferred.
