Job description

QC Inspector - Blasting & Painting (Jacket)

Location: Offshore / Site-based, Qatar

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (until end of 2025)

Work Schedule: Offshore rotation or site-based, in line with project requirements

A leading offshore project in Qatar requires an experienced Quality Control Inspector specialising in blasting and painting to support the fabrication and installation of jacket structures. This role is focused on ensuring coating and surface protection works are completed to the highest quality standards in compliance with international regulations and project specifications.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum technical diploma or equivalent
  • Certification from a recognised body such as NACE, TWI, or equivalent
  • NACE Level II or BGAS-CSWIP Grade II - mandatory

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in the Oil & Gas downstream industry
  • Proven experience working with international consultancy firms, third-party inspection agencies, EPIC contractors, or operating companies on major projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of approved quality procedures and inspection plans for coating activities throughout fabrication, construction, and installation phases
  • Verify that contractors, subcontractors, and vendors employ competent personnel and adhere to internationally accepted practices
  • Monitor all site and fabrication yard coating activities, ensuring all weld joints are treated in accordance with approved standards
  • Perform systematic inspections at each critical stage of surface preparation, painting, wrapping, and repair
  • Witness painter and blaster qualification tests conducted by the paint manufacturer and review associated results
  • Oversee the inspection system implementation, enforcing hold points for preparatory and coating works-ensuring no work proceeds without formal clearance
  • Conduct in-process inspections on offshore steel structures and topside facilities, verifying compliance with project specifications and applicable international standards
  • Report daily to the QA/QC Engineer, advising on contractor compliance and flagging any concerns impacting the quality of works

  • Sound understanding of international coating standards and offshore fabrication practices
  • Familiarity with inspection requirements for painting and surface protection in offshore environments
  • Methodical, observant, and capable of managing quality assurance activities under pressure
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface confidently with multidisciplinary teams
