Position Overview

The SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Operator for the Waste Water Treatment Plant monitors, controls, and optimizes the plant's operations through the SCADA system. This includes real-time plant equipment management, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing technical support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment process.

Key Responsibilities

1. SCADA Monitoring and Control
   • Operate and monitor SCADA systems to ensure that the wastewater treatment process runs efficiently.
   • Monitor real-time data from various plant components, such as pumps, valves, flow meters, and chemical dosing systems.
   • Respond to alarms and take corrective actions as needed to ensure the safety and efficiency of the treatment plant operations.
   • Control plant processes remotely, including start-up, shutdown, and adjustments to parameters like flow, chemical dosing, and treatment cycles.
2. Data Collection and Reporting
   • Record, log, and track operational data in accordance with environmental and regulatory standards.
   • Generate reports based on system data for analysis and compliance purposes.
   • Ensure data accuracy and timely entries in the SCADA database.
3. Preventative and Corrective Maintenance
   • Collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot SCADA system issues and alarms, initiating corrective actions.
   • Perform routine inspections of the SCADA system and associated equipment.
   • Assist in maintaining SCADA hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
4. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
   • Diagnose and resolve operational issues related to the SCADA system and equipment.
   • Work with engineers and support teams to address faults or failures.
   • Ensure equipment functions properly to prevent downtime.
5. Compliance and Safety
   • Adhere to safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
   • Ensure SCADA data meets regulatory standards for wastewater discharge and treatment.
   • Participate in safety drills and training to promote a safe work environment.
6. Collaboration and Communication
   • Work with plant operators, engineers, and staff to optimize operations.
   • Communicate effectively during shift changes and updates.
   • Provide detailed handovers for smooth operational transitions.

Requirements

Experience operating SCADA systems in a wastewater treatment environment, including PLC, HMI, and DCS, is preferred.
