JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood has an opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team in Qatar. This role involves providing technical assurance of process designs through the application of Shell standards, specifications, DCAF implementation, and review of design deliverables. The engineer will ensure that schedule and cost considerations are integrated into design decisions, while maintaining a primary focus on safety and quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure electrical engineering activities align with Shell's Project Delivery Roadmap and Opportunity Realization Process.
- Deliver electrical equipment engineering scope for assigned projects, ensuring smooth start-up and compliance with HSSE practices as per the QSGTL HSSE management system.
- Act as the senior focal point for electrical equipment in reviewing and preparing engineering deliverables, including study reports, RFC packages, commissioning procedures, ITPs, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations.
- Drive technical assurance by ensuring engineering and construction activities meet project standards and specifications, including DEM1 and DEM2 standards.
- Participate in engineering reviews, witness factory acceptance tests, and engage in safety and quality audits and field reviews as needed.
- Support installation quality assurance, collaborating with construction teams and providing technical support during commissioning and startup of electrical equipment.
- Stay updated with the latest Shell and industry standards, ensuring project compliance, and familiarize with Shell TAMAP, EFAs, and SPEP for electrical equipment.
- Assist in auditing construction activities for compliance and resolve field non-conformance issues.
- Ensure designs meet Shell's HSSE framework requirements.
- Design and develop innovative technical approaches to process engineering challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide comprehensive electrical equipment engineering support and delivery for QPH projects.
- Take accountability for process engineering deliverables and support engineering execution planning with senior expertise.
- Collaborate proactively with the Engineering Manager to ensure projects are on track and achieve top quartile performance.
- Enhance efficiency and effectiveness in project design through elimination, simplification, standardization, and automation, maintaining high quality standards.
- Support management of repeated failures and drive corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in brownfield oil and gas electrical and mechanical design and engineering.
- Experience as a professional electrical equipment engineer, supporting operations, maintenance, testing, installation, commissioning, and startup of electrical equipment.
