Wood is actively seeking Expressions of Interest for a Senior Piping Designer role to support future growth in our expanding business.

The projects team focuses on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for executing project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost, and schedule targets.

This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

Responsibilities

The Senior Piping Designer will be responsible for:

• Preparing engineering drawings in their discipline area from rough sketches or general engineering and design information according to standards and procedures.
• Creating designs and detailed plans for projects in commercial, industrial, civil sectors, and plant or manufactured products and systems.
• Planning and executing technical assignments of significant complexity, involving various procedures and techniques.
• Undertaking technical assignments integral to ongoing engineering programs.
• Preparing mechanical or digital drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and models using CAD/CADD software.
• Creating drawings with plans, layouts, calculations, and bills of material.
• Handling assignments involving diverse design procedures and techniques.
• Recording observations, performing calculations, and preparing reports.
• Performing layouts, designs, and checks from basic data.
• Designing and detailing drawings from rough sketches with intricate calculations and engineering principles.
• Establishing and monitoring project drafting standards.
• Identifying cost-effective design solutions.
• Assisting in bid evaluations.
• Ensuring quality and technical accuracy in drawings and material quantities, including reviewing others' work.
• Planning work effectively and liaising with the project team and line manager to control man-hours and meet targets.
• Conducting site visits and surveys, providing inputs to reports.
