Job Summary and Purpose

The Production Engineer provides technical and technological problem-solving abilities in production engineering processes and planning. The role involves leading work teams and controlling the production process to ensure high-quality, auditable standards consistent with contract scope, statutory and code requirements, IMS procedures, design parameters, site survey input, WPS, stress inputs, and vendor data. This position and its subordinates perform repair, installation, and modification activities.

Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Multi-skilled in all types of welding to ensure work can be executed as planned.
  2. Train and qualify welders through On Job Training (OJT) to maintain high standards and business continuity.
  3. Responsible for welding equipment and consumables.
  4. Distribute welding equipment for vessels or projects as required.
  5. Apply engineering practices to resolve management challenges related to production, ensuring effective and efficient processes.
  6. Ensure the integrity of welding and cutting activities.
  7. Manage physical, human, and financial resources to meet high efficiency at the lowest cost, and monitor daily manpower and manhour consumption, reporting discrepancies to the manager.
  8. Plan and allocate manpower according to vessel work scope, monitor daily manhour consumption, and ensure project completion within the allocated timeframe and manhours.

Additional accountabilities include monitoring workforce movement, validating passes, raising subcontractor requests, reviewing blueprints and work instructions, fostering safety culture, preparing permits and risk assessments, applying mathematical and statistical models, designing and improving products and processes, staying updated with technological developments, and managing flow of information and production.

Delivery of best practice engineering services and ensuring fit-for-purpose engineering design and drawings with minimal rework.

Interactions and Working Relations

Internal: Section Management, Supervision, Industrial Workers, Operations Sections, Project Managers

Purpose: To integrate and operationalize project engineering and management plans into production engineering plans, relevant for execution, quality, safety, or maintenance.

External: Clients, Sub-Contractors, Service Engineers, Surveyors

Purpose: To communicate client specifications, requirements, and provide progress reports.

Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills

Qualifications: Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 (Motorship).

Experience: At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
