A leading company in IT – Software Services is seeking a Data Privacy Engineer to enhance data protection and compliance efforts. The role involves implementing privacy frameworks, conducting assessments, and collaborating across teams to align with regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in privacy engineering and a strong background in compliance regulations.
Job Overview
The Data Privacy Engineer will lead the development and implementation of privacy-enhancing technologies to ensure regulatory compliance and data protection across systems, processes, and teams. This role bridges legal, IT, and compliance domains to operationalize privacy frameworks and reduce organizational risk.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement privacy-by-design technical safeguards and data protection controls
* Align systems and processes with data privacy regulations including GDPR, HIPAA, and local laws
* Translate legal privacy requirements into enforceable system configurations and IT controls
* Develop data classification models and lead Data Loss Prevention (DLP) initiatives
* Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new systems and business operations
* Create privacy awareness programs and technical training for teams handling personal data
* Monitor evolving privacy regulations and update internal protocols and controls accordingly
* Collaborate with legal, compliance, cybersecurity, and IT teams to ensure privacy governance
Job Requirements
Education:
* Bachelor s or Master s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years in data protection, cybersecurity, or privacy engineering roles
* Proven experience applying privacy engineering frameworks in enterprise IT systems
Skills:
* Deep understanding of privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc.)
* Hands-on experience with encryption, pseudonymization, anonymization, and DLP tools
* Knowledge of privacy governance platforms and risk assessment methodologies (PIAs)
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills to interface across legal, IT, and compliance functions
Certifications (Preferred):
* CIPT (Certified Information Privacy Technologist)
* CIPP/E or CIPP/US
* CISSP
* ISO 27701 or equivalent privacy certifications
