Job summary

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Project Associate (Cultural Mediator) to support the Assistance Programme in Qatar by facilitating communication and cultural mediation. You will interpret between Dari, Pashto, and English, accompany guests to appointments, and help ensure confidentiality and data protection.

Responsibilities include translating, organizing cultural awareness sessions, reporting using the SMART CAMP SYNC App, and assisting the Feedback Mechanism team

Qualifications

• Experience with at-risk communities.
• Experience in migration, including assistance.
• Experience in transit centres and/or resettlement programmes.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpretation in Dari and/or Pashto and English to facilitate communication between IOM staff and Afghan evacuees at CAS.
• Accompany guests to appointments or meetings to provide interpretation/translation support.
• Carry out informal written translations from English to Dari and/or Pashto (and vice versa) under tight deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity of paperwork per standards and data protection rules.
• Apply humanitarian principles with gender, age, and diversity considerations.
• Organize and deliver cultural awareness sessions to strengthen intercultural understanding.
• Provide inputs for daily, quarterly and annual reports using the SMART CAMP SYNC App.
• Assist the Complaint and Feedback Mechanism team with interpretation/written translation when required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
