Job summary

DrExpat is assisting a leading healthcare provider in Qatar to recruit a Consultant Sports Medicine Physician. The role involves assessing, diagnosing and managing sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions, and developing personalized rehabilitation and return-to-play plans.

You will work with orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, nutritionists and other specialists to optimise recovery and performance.

Qualifications

• Medical degree with sports medicine specialty training.
• Board certification or equivalent in sports medicine.
• Qatari medical licence eligibility preferred.
• Experience in rehabilitation and return-to-play.
• English fluency mandatory; Arabic an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal disorders.
• Develop personalised treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes.
• Perform comprehensive musculoskeletal assessments.
• Provide injury prevention advice and sports performance guidance.
• Collaborate with physiotherapists and multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage acute and chronic sports injuries.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and treatment plans.
• Follow international sports medicine and patient safety guidelines.
• Participate in audits, research and continuing medical education.

Education & Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) with recognised specialty training in Sports Medicine
• Board Certification, CCT, CCST, American Board, Fellowship, or equivalent recognised qualification in Sports Medicine
• Eligible for or holding a valid Qatar medical licence (QCHP/MOPH eligibility preferred)
• Candidates with limited Consultant-level experience may be considered with strong Sports Medicine training
• Experience developing rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes
• Experience working with professional athletes, sports teams, or active populations is an advantage
• Fluency in English is mandatory; Arabic language skills are an advantage
• GCC or previous Middle East experience preferred
